We would like to thank everyone who attended the 4th Annual Techtober Expo.
The Techtober Expo was a fantastic event. This year's event was a big success thanks to all of you who attended. The MSU Management Education Center was a beautiful facility and a great place to host the Expo. We all enjoyed the food from the breakfast that started our day to the hors-d'oeuvres and drinks at the end of the day.
This year we had many Sponsors join us. We want to thank all of the Sponsors who not only participated in the event by hosting a booth or teaching a breakout session but also thank those of you who donated an item for the giveaway.
We had a big crowd join us this year to participate in networking with the sponsors, BSB staff and attend the Breakout Sessions. We could not have done it without all of you; our Customers and Guests. Because of all of you taking the time out of your day to join us, the event was a huge success. We hope each of you gained some knowledge and enjoyed your day as much as we did. We appreciate each and every one of you, more than you know. Thank You, again, for spending the day with us and participating in the 4th Annual Techtober Expo.
We look forward to seeing you again next year! THANK YOU!

Attendees will enjoy the keynote presentation "Best Practices from Credit Union Call Centers Across the Country" delivered by Don Arkell, a well-respected industry consultant. Arkell will also speak on two of the frontline topics, "100% Service in the Call Center, 100% of the Time" and "Hot Topics: Discussion Group for Frontline Staffers." The other frontline staff topics, "Improving Communication Skills: Talk, Chat and More" and "Action & Reaction: Crisis Time in a Call Center" will be presented respectively by Janie Warner, a seasoned credit union executive, and Kerri Smith, an award-winning business development professional.
*In April 2014, AT&T announced it was beginning a trial to eliminate landline connections in Carbon Hill, Alabama and West Delray Beach, Florida. According to The Wall Street Journal, AT&T has plans to convert its entire network, which stretches across 22 states, to Internet protocol technology within the next six years, the carrier would cease to offer new landline connections, and would move to disconnect all existing landlines by 2020. Verizon has been transitioning away from traditional copper phone lines, having spent more than $23 billion in the past 10 years to increase its fiber-based FiOS services.
Today Telecom Carriers have begun the aggressive push to SIP Trunking
"The Truth is as much as we do not want to fax, we know and understand that the faxes we do send and receive are essential to our organization. For our organization, the stability of our fax server is critical to improving patient care. But, what is sometimes lost in the fax discussion is that we are able to communicate securely with organizations of all sizes, hospitals with different EMR's and insurance providers all through one existing technology."– CIO, Health System in Southern Illinois
Organizations transitioning to IP-based networks need a cost-effective solution to integrate existing fax machines. etherFAX analog-to-etherFAX (A2E) offers a simple, plug and- play device that allows any traditional fax machine to be extended to the etherFAX network. The etherFAX A2E, manufactured by MultiTech, connects existing analog fax machines to the etherFAX network, allowing faxes to be sent and received via the cloud, instead of the PSTN. The device allow organizations to leverage existing IT infrastructure and eliminate the cost and maintenance of fax lines.
The etherFAX A2E device simplifies the transition to IP-based infrastructure without adding complexity and ongoing maintenance. It is also transparent to users, so no training is required to send and receive faxes. The etherFAX A2E device also supports etherFAX Secure Exchange Network (SEN), allowing data-sensitive enterprises to integrate remote fax machines from various locations into their own private fax network. SEN ensures secure data and document transmissions and reliability without compromising security.
Through its infrastructure as a service (IaaS) model, etherFAX and etherFAX SEN leverage a vast array of virtual ports, making them available to send and receive high volumes of fax transmissions while removing the need for costly telephony infrastructure. The ability to integrate with all leading fax servers, fax-enabled applications, multi-function devices and fax machines allows for fast and easy configuration
Nearly 30-thousand runners hit the streets of downtown Detroit on Sunday, October 21st, 2018 to run in the 2018 Detroit Free Press Chemical Bank Marathon.
The BSB Phone Jockeys participated in this event and two of the runners are BSB Technicians; Tom Lamb (pictured 2nd from the Left) and Gary Miller (pictured in the center).
This was an International race, many runners ran the course through downtown Detroit and Windsor, crossing the border at the Ambassador Bridge and Detroit-Windsor Tunnel. This allowed participants to help raise funds for charities.
The BSB Phone Jockeys took 102nd Place out of 531 Teams running in the event. They finished the Marathon in 4 hours, 1 minute and 16 seconds.
We are proud to have both Tom & Gary as a part of our team at BSB Communications and a part of the BSB Phone Jockey Team!
The very nature of where we communicate, when we communicate and how we choose to communicate with others has changed. However, for businesses to succeed, they don't merely need employees to be able to make/take phone calls, they need them to be able to communicate seamlessly and effortlessly as if they were in the same room, especially when they cannot be. MiCollab simplifies the way employees talk, meet and share information with others by bringing together communications and collaboration tools into a single solution making it easier for them to connect, communicate, and collaborate with others, from anyplace, at any time. Whether it's from their desktop or mobile device, with MiCollab employees can easily share information and tap into the knowledge of others across the organization, no matter where they are located.
The core enhancements to MiCollab include:
Friendly reminder: Daylight Saving Time ends at 2 a.m. on Sunday, Nov. 4, 2018, which means it's almost time to turn back those clocks. Theoretically, we will gain an hour of sleep, but we will also be losing an hour of evening light through March 10, 2019 — when it's time to "spring" forward. Daylight saving time was extra special this year, as it marked the 100th anniversary of the event. The tradition of changing the clocks officially began in the U.S. on March 19, 1918.
